Record-Breaking Night for Georgian Court Men as Lions Eclipse Century Mark for First Time in Rout of Chestnut Hill

Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad made history Tuesday evening as the Lions cracked the century mark for the first time in its six seasons, sending off visiting Chestnut Hill College after a 104-83 rout in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional action.

Tonight's victory snaps GCU's ten-game losing streak, providing the Lions (3-18, 2-10 CACC) their first win since dropping these same Griffins on the road, 80-68, back on Dec. 19. Georgian Court's previous point high was set on Dec. 30, 2017 when they defeated Chestnut Hill in overtime, 98-95.

Thanks to a 53.3% shooting percentage, including a scalding 9-of-15 from three-point territory, the Lions owned an astounding 30-point lead with 3:50 to go in the first half, eventually coasting into intermission with a 46-18 surplus. Despite being outscored, 65-58, in a high-flying second half, GCU's lead never dipped below 19 points, and reached a game-high 37 on two separate occasions.

The Lions would end the triumph nailing 34-of-60 attempts from the floor (56.7%), and connecting on an eye-popping 14 treys (23 attempts, 60.9%). Five Lions achieved double-digit scoring efforts in the rout as three Lions tied for the team lead with 19 points apiece.

Kristian Alexander connected on all seven of his field-goal attempts, including a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the three-point arc. Justin Figueroa did his damage at the charity stripe, nailing 10-of-12 free throw attempts, while Caleb Bowser shot 7-of-16 from the floor to go along with his game-high eight assists.

Matt Ringel followed his trio of teammates with 18 points, including four three-pointers, while also snaring eight rebounds. Sean Barksdale rounded out the Lions' top-five with his 13 points in 21 total minutes.

Chestnut Hill's Ed McWade (Sr.-Wildwood, N.J.) topped all players with a game-high 31 points in the setback.

GCU looks to carry its momentum into Saturday afternoon when the Lions host Nyack College at 2:00 p.m.
