Lakewood, N.J. - A day after crawling through a 3-1 setback vs. Molloy College, the Georgian Court University women's soccer squad returned to its home pitch with a renewed energy Sunday as the Lions landed back in the win column with a 2-0 non-conference defeat of Le Moyne College.
The GCU scoring commenced at 10:12 when
Krystal Hund headed in a perfect cross off the boot of
Kaitlin Lister to put the home team head, 1-0. The tally marked the second in as many days for the reigning CACC Rookie of the Year.
Georgian Court's second-and-final scoring effort of the afternoon came at the 28:35 mark when
Aliya Canfield gathered an
Anissia Fucci through-ball and buried the first collegiate goal of her collegiate career. GCU out-shot the Dolphins, 28-18, and owned a 13-6 shots-on-goal differential.
Anetha Jenkins improved to 1-0 on the year as the Lions' net-minder secured six saves in the complete-game shutout victory. Le Moyne's
Shannon Bennison (Sr.-Albany, N.Y.) gathered 11 saves for the Dolphins (1-2) in the defeat.
Now 2-2 on the season, Georgian Court next takes the field on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. regional road contest at Assumption College.
