Philadelphia, Pa. - On the night reigning-champion Holy Family University raised its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) title banner, Georgian Court University showed the host-Tigers that 2018 was so last year as the visiting Lions coasted to a 3-0, straight-set triumph (25-16, 25-16, 25-20).
The victory improves GCU to a 6-3 overall record and a perfect 1-0 mark in CACC divisional play. Holy Family drops to 4-3 on the season (0-1 CACC).
Aubrey Binkley's double-double led the charge for Georgian Court as the junior slugged a match-best 14 kills while tying
Emily McCurley for the team lead with 13 digs.
Shana Rayside continues to be a force at the Lions' net as the senior slammed down five blocks in the victory.
Kinsy Haschke recorded seven kills and 11 digs for GCU.
Jaime Sweeney and
Ashley Pierson dished 14 and 10 assists, respectively, in the shutout.
The Lions finally prepare to play on their home floor as Georgian Court welcomes Le Moyne College (3:00 p.m.) and Kutztown University (7:00 p.m.) to campus for Friday's non-conference tri-match.
