Lakewood, N.J. - After playing its first nine matches of 2019 away from campus, the Georgian Court University volleyball squad made its home debut in a big way as the Lions authored a pair of straight-set victories Friday night in the GCU Wellness Center.
Hosting a non-conference tri-match, Georgian Court shut out Le Moyne College for the second time this season (25-23, 25-20, 25-22) before concluding the evening with a 3-0 blanking of Kutztown University (25-23, 25-20, 25-22).
The Lions now own a three-game winning streak, having not dropped a set in any of the aforementioned contests.
In the opener,
Aubrey Binkley tied for the game lead with her 10 kills while settling eight digs.
Ashley Pierson and
Jaime Sweeney each dished 19 assists apiece.
Emily McCurley paced the victors with her 15 digs.
Grace Fenn and
Shana Rayside patrolled the net with five and four blocks, respectively.
In the nightcap, it would be
Kinsy Haschke leading the offense with 11 kills. Rayside added five more rejections high above the net while Fenn put back six of her own. Sweeney distributed a game-best 19 assists, which were accompanied by Pierson and her 12 helpers.
GCU, now 8-3 on the year, will next take the floor Tuesday evening with a CACC home match vs. Chestnut Hill College. Start time is 6:30 p.m.Â
