Newark, Del. -Georgian Court University, victorious in four-straight matches, saw its winning streak come to a close Thursday as the Lions suffered a 3-2 setback at Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's volleyball action.

The home team came out strong as the Wildcats (9-5, 1-1 CACC) collected back-to-back 25-21 victories over the first two sets. The Lions would not go down without a fight as GCU answered with a 25-21 triumph of its own in the third, followed by a 25-18 surplus in the fourth to even the match at 2-2. 

With the score knotted at 10-10 in the deciding fifth set, Wilmington proceeded to close out the divisional "W" with a 5-2 sprint to end the match.

Shana Rayside tied Wilmington's Bailey Andrews with a match-high 18 kills on the night as the Georgian Court senior spiked her way to a magnificiant.500 hitting percentage (30 attempts). Kinsy Haschke authored her third double-double of the year with 18 kills and 29 digs.

Emily McCurley, the reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, showed her stuff all over the floor with her team-high 31 kills on the night. Jaime Sweeney distributed a season-best 31 assists while Ashley Pierson dished 14 helpers.

The Lions continued to patrol above the net in stellar fashion as GCU combined for 23 total blocks. Amy Bruno topped all players with nine rejections on the night.

Georgian Court (9-4, 2-1 CACC) returns home this Saturday for a 10:30 a.m. morning match vs. divisional rival, Jefferson. The event will be a part of the University's Reunion Day & Homecoming celebration.
