Lakewood, N.J. - Head coach Mickey Hover announced today that Joseph Murphy of Rutland, Mass. will be joining the Georgian Court University men's lacrosse program next fall as the newest member of the Lions' Class of 2025.

Murphy, a 6'1", 185-lb. defender, is currently a senior at The Winchendon School where he plays both lacrosse and ice hockey. In fact, Joe earned team MVP honors his junior season on the ice.

"We are so excited to have our first recruit from Massachusetts," said Coach Hover.  "Joe is going to be an extremely dynamic player for our program.  His ability to play sound defense, put the ball on the ground, and push transition is amazing. The future is bright for this extremely talented student-athlete."

Looking to become an athletic trainer after college, Murphy will major in exercise science at GCU. Joe chose to attend Georgian Court because he is a "highly competitive student-athlete who wants a great education."
