First-Place Jefferson Wins 16th-Straight in 73-59 Home Win Over Georgian Court ... Figueroa Nets Season-Best 19 Points for Lions

Philadelphia, Pa. - First-place Jefferson secured its 16th-consecutive victory Tuesday evening as the first-place Rams upended visiting Georgian Court University, 73-59,  in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball divisional action.

Trailing by a margin of 22-21 at the 5:18 mark of the first half, Jefferson took off on an 18-5 run and never looked back as the Rams (23-2, 16-0 CACC) entered intermission with a 40-26 surplus. The home team increased its advantage to game-high 20 points when a Kylan Guerra (Sr.-White Plains, N.Y.) three-ball put Jefferson ahead, 73-53, with 3:23 to go in regulation.

Four Rams reached double figures in the scoring column, paced by DeVaughn Mallory (Sr.-Smyrna, Del.) and his double-double effort of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Guerra followed with 19 points and a game-best nine helpers. Prince Hickson (Sr.-Amityville, N.Y.) and Ja'Zere Noel (So.-Woodbury, N.J.) knocked down 10 points apiece in the victory.

Justin Figueroa enjoyed a big night for Georgian Court as the sophomore poured in a season-best 19 points over his 37 minutes. Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor contributed 15 points foe the royal-and-gold while Matt Ringel landed 12 points of his own.

GCU (8-15, 6-10 CACC) now looks ahead to Saturday when the Lions visit Goldey-Beacom College at 3:00 p.m. for a divisional showdown. The Lightning took down Georgian Court on Jan. 21, 69-64, in the Wellness Center.
