Bowser Buries Team-Record 37 Points as Lions Secure Season Sweep of Holy Family

Lakewood, N.J. - Caleb Bowser, already Georgian Court University's all-time leading scorer (1,345 points), added another milestone to his collegiate career as the senior secured a new team single-game high with his 37 points as the Lions held off Holy Family University, 66-59, Tuesday night in the Wellness Center.

The new mark erases the Lions' previous-best of 34 points, originally established by Keith Hughes in a 94-87 home loss vs. then-Felician College back on Feb. 8, 2014.

A blowout appeared to be in the works as Georgian Court coasted to a comfortable 34-22 advantage heading into intermission. The Tigers (7-15, 4-9 CACC) had other ideas, however, as the road team answered with an impressive 17-4 run to start the second stanza and take a slim 39-38 lead with 12:29 to go.

The two squads would then proceed to experience two ties and six lead changes before Jelani Jackson drilled a three-pointer at the 6:32 mark to snap a 46-46 stalemate and provide the Lions a surplus they would not again relinquish.

Bowser hit for 13-of-19 from the field in the GCU triumph, while also snaring 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Bryce Council remains hot on the offensive end as the junior netted 10 points, to go along with six boards, four steals and a trio of helpers. Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor cleared the glass of team-high 12 rebounds, complementing his eight points and three assists.

Eric Esposito (So.-Langhorne, Pa.) put on a show of his own for Holy Family, a double-double performance consisting of 28 points and 13 rebounds in 38 total minutes for the Tigers.

Georgian Court (8-11, 6-6 CACC) continues its fight for its first-ever CACC postseason berth this Saturday with a 3:00 p.m. road contest at Bloomfield College (11-11, 7-6 CACC).
