Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad closed out the most successful campaign in program history Saturday as the Lions dropped a 68-59 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) home decision to Felician University.
Trailing 35-24 at the break, the Lions were able to slice the deficit to as many as seven on four separate occasions in the second stanza, but the Golden Falcons (13-14, 11-8 CACC), fighting for a postseason berth, would not permit the GCU comeback to come to fruition.
Jeff Lewis (Sr.-Sicklerville, N.J.) topped the victors with his 26 points and eight rebounds while
Jaylen Colon (So.-Paterson, N.J.) contributed 10 points and nine assists in the win.
Matt Ringel, with his 13 points, led the way for Georgian Court.
Jelani Jackson and
Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor each netted 10 points apiece for the home team.
GCU (9-17, 7-12 CACC) now prepares for its first-ever postseason appearance as the #4 seed in the CACC South Division. The Lions will take on the defending CACC champions, Dominican College, which won the North Division with a record of 15-4 (22-6 overall).
The Chargers edged Georgian Court, 75-71, in the teams' lone appearance back on Jan. 26 in Orangeburg, N.Y.
