Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University continues to take care of business on the pitch as Lions upped its undefeated record to 9-0-2 (6-0-1 CACC) Saturday with a 5-2 Homecoming Day triumph over Caldwell University.
Five different Lions found the back of the net in the win as GCU posts its highest offensive output since blanking the aforementioned Cougars, 5-0, back on Oct. 13, 2018. Caldwell drops to 3-7 (1-6 CACC) after the setback.
The royal-and-gold immediately took control of the contest as
Landry Cheta (3:30) and
Mathias Madersbacher (6:21) found the back of the net to provide the home team a 2-0 cushion before the conclusion of the seventh-minute of action.
Louis Silva, who provided the helper on both of the first two tallies of the match, stepped up and scored his 14th of the year at 22:47 to make it 3-0 Lions.
Rhys Cotter connected on a
Logan Romero dish at a symmetrical 44:44 to put the home team ahead 4-0 at the half.
Noah Hamouda capped off the contest with his third of the year at 67:16, courtesy of Silva's third assist of the day.
Gianluca Cersosimo remains unblemished in net for GCU as the net-minder pushed his personal season record to 9-0-2 with six saves over 90:00 of action.
The Lions, on the brink of its first national ranking since 2018 campaign, travels north to the University of Bridgeport this Wednesday evening (6:00 p.m.) for a non-conference contest.
