Bridgeport, Conn. - Georgian Court University men's soccer extended its season-starting unbeaten streak to 12 Wednesday night as the Lions secured a 2-2, double overtime non-conference stalemate at the University of Bridgeport (4-6-3).
With the tie, the #21 team in the nation improves to 9-0-3 on the year, moving to within one game of the program's team-record 13-game unbeaten streak (11-0-2), which stretched from Oct. 11, 2016 to Sept. 9, 2017.
Trailing 1-0 at the 17:37 mark,
Rhys Cotter netted the equalizer with 1:14 left (43:46) in the first half after connecting on a
Louis Silva feed. Silva added his conference-leading 15th tally of the year in the 77th minute (76:14) to put GCU up by one (2-1). The advantage would be short-lived as Bridgeport's
Jesse Clark knotted the score at 2-all with his fifth of the season just 49 seconds later (77:03).
Gianluca Cersosimo collected seven saves in his 110:00 of work within the Georgian Court frame.
GCU returns to conference play Saturday as the Lions come back to the Nutmeg State to take on Post University in a contest slated for 2:30 p.m.
