Waterbury, Conn. - For the second consecutive outing, Georgian Court University's
Erin Wimmer netted the lone goal in an eventual 1-0 victory as the Lions this time held on to shutout Post University on the road Saturday in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference women's soccer action.
The senior also collected the game-winner in last Saturday's 1-0 Homecoming win over Caldwell University as GCU evens its conference ledger at 4-4 (5-8 overall). The Eagles drop to 5-7-1 (4-5-1 CACC) with the home defeat.
Unlike last week when Wimmer won the game late (86:29) vs. the Cougars, the Sayreville, N.J. native took care of business right out of the gate as she put the royal-and-gold ahead just 6:24 into the match. Despite the outcome, Post still controlled the shots column at 10-5.
Alyssa Dias (4-7) collected five saves in the complete-game (90:00) to earn the goalkeeping decision for GCU.
The Lions remain on the road for their next showing, a 3:30 p.m. visit to Wilmington University this Tuesday.
