Bloomfield, N.J. - A first-half
Haley Pignatelli tally turned out to be the game-winner as Georgian Court University blanked Bloomfield College, 1-0, in Saturday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer competition.
The shutout marks GCU's seventh-straight such result vs. Bloomfield as the Lions remain undefeated in 29 total matches between the two programs (28-0-1) dating back to 1993. Georgian Court has kept the Bears/Deacons scoreless in 23 of those contests and has not permitted a goal to the north division foe since a 3-3 stalemate back on Sept. 14, 2013.
Pignatelli collected her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 11th-minute (10:42) on an opportunity created by a
Jessica Ford corner kick.
Alyssa Dias registered the win in net for the Lions as the GCU goalkeeper earns her first shutout performance on the year.
Georgian Court (3-7, 2-3 CACC) remains on the road for its next outing as the Lions visit Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
