Lions Outlasted at Wilmington, 3-2, to Conclude Regular Season ... Now Set Sights on Postseason With Visit to Bloomfield on Horizon

Newark, Del. - For the second time this fall, Georgian Court University suffered an agonizing five-set setback to Wilmington University as the host-Wildcats outlasted the Lions, 3-2, Wednesday evening in the regular-season finale for GCU.

Performing in a front of a packed house, and with a playoff-type atmosphere in the air, WU dropped its divisional foe (25-17, 24-26, 25-20, 15-25, 15-10) to secure the #3 seed in the south division. GCU (21-9, 12-6 CACC), with the defeat, lands the #4 seed and will travel to Bloomfield College (#1 north division) Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. to compete in the 2021 CACC Championship Tournament quarterfinals.

Kinsy Hachke, with her 19 kills and 12 digs, recorded her team-high 16th double-double in the effort. Faith Bennett enjoyed her best showing of the season as the senior secured 22 assists and 17 digs to author her third double-double of the year (first since Sept. 25). Jessica Sprankle came up one mark short (nine assists, 12 digs) of her own double-double while Trilby Kite did the same (nine digs, 20 assists) in the marathon match.

Nahomie Alejandro Negron dominated above the net with eight blocks (two solo) and 10 kills for the Lions.
