East Stroudsburg, Pa. - Facing off for the first time ever in men's basketball competition, East Stroudsburg University (4-3) eased its way to a 94-55 home win vs. Georgian Court University Saturday night in ESU's Koehler Fieldhouse.
With the scored tied at 4-4 early in the first half (16:44), the Warriors rattled off a crippling 23-0 run to take a dominating 27-4 lead at the 7:04 mark of the initial stanza. Coming out of the intermission with a 48-16 cushion, the home team's lead never dipped below 33 points the rest of the way.
Five different Warriors reached double-digits in the scoring column, topped by
Carlos Pepin and his double-double contribution of 22 points and 10 rebounds. The redshirt junior out of Lodi, N.J. hit for a perfect nine-for-nine from the field in the rout.
Clint Wright Jr. continues to shine for the Georgian Court offense as the sophomore secured a team-high 17 points (three 3-pointers) in his 30 minutes. Duran Alicea and
Davon Floyd netted 10 apiece for the royal-and-gold.
GCU (2-7) travels south to Boca Raton, Fla. for its next outing as the Lions take on Lynn University (4-3) of the Sunshine State Conference Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
