Boca Raton, Fla. - Georgian Court University men's hoops opened a two-game set in the Sunshine State Wednesday evening as the Lions dropped an 86-54 decision at Lynn University in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The Fighting Knights (5-3) coasted to a 20-point halftime cushion (47-27) and never looked back. The home team increased its lead to a game-high 35 points after a pair of
Christian Peevy (Gr.-Chicago, Ill.) free throws made the score 70-35 Lynn with 9:31 remaining in regulation.Â
Peevy paced the victors with a double-double performance of 14 points and 11 boards in the non-conference triumph.
Branden Ellis (Jr.-Gurnee, Ill.) and
Ibrahima Sankare (Gr.-Thies, Senegal) followed with 13 points apiece. Â
Duran "DJ" Alicea topped the Lions' lineup with his team-best 18 points and three three-pointers. Clint Wright Jr. secured 13 points in his 27 minutes while
Davon Floyd added 12 of his own in the setback.
GCU (2-8) closes out the trip Thursday night with a visit to the #9 team in the nation (D2SIDA poll), Nova Southeastern University. Tip is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
