Georgian Court Extends Win-Streak vs. Holy Family to Three as Lions Claw Out 50-47 Road Win

Philadelphia, Pa. - Georgian Court University recorded its first road win of the 2021-22 campaign, and extended its winning streak vs. Holy Family University to three-straight, as the Lions outpaced the host-Tigers, 50-47, Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference divisional men's basketball action.

The two squads battled in a back-and-forth first half that concluded with Holy Family up by one (23-22) heading into the break. The second frame would be more of the same as GCU and Tigers tussled to four lead changes and a pair of stalemates. Trailing by one (39-38) with 6:03 to go in regulation, the Lions unloaded for a 9-1 sprint to go ahead by six (47-41) with just 2:04 left.

HFU (2-7, 0-3 CACC) calmly proceeded to rattle off a clutch 6-0 spurt to even the contest at 47-all wth a miniscule 0:21 remaining on the clock. The fate of the Lions fell onto the fingers of Andreas Vonfricke as the freshman hit on the front end of a pair of free throws, sending in what would represent the game-winner with 13 ticks left. Jaleni Jackson would follow with two successful efforts from the charity stripe at 00:03 to clinch Georgian Court's second win of the season (2-6, 1-2 CACC).

The aforementioned Jackson topped the victors with 17 points on the night. Shane Williams registered his second double-double of the year with 13 rebounds and 11 points. Clint Wright Jr. added 10 points of his own as the trio each played all 40 minutes of the game.

Daniel Fleming (Jr.-Haddonfield, N.J.) topped the Holy Family lineup with his 23 points, including a game-high five three-pointers, over 33 total minutes. Manny Toha (Fr.-Newark, N.J.) added 10 points in 22 minutes off the Tigers' bench.

GCU stays on the road for its next contest, a non-conference clash at East Stroudsburg University this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
