Lions Return to Action After 13-Day Hiatus, Fall to Felician, 74-61, in Friday Hoops Matinee

Lakewood, N.J. - Taking the hardwood for the first time since winning at Concordia College (59-58) back on February 6, Georgian Court University dropped a home Friday matinee to visiting Felician University, 74-61, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball action.

In an up and down first frame that witnessed five stalemates and four lead changes, Felician (3-2. 3-2 CACC) took a late six-point advantage (1:49) when a Justin Davis (Jr.-Jersey City, N.J.) layup made the score 31-25 visitors. A furious 7-0 run over the final 109 seconds, capped by a Titus Beard three-ball with 0:46 to go provided the Lions a slim 32-31 surplus heading into intermission.

Still gripping a one-point edge (41-40) at the 15:56 mark of the second half, the Lions (1-3, 1-3 CACC) just could not hold on as the Golden Falcons soared for a 35-18 surge, and mounting a game-high 16-point advantage (75-59) with only 0:31 to go in the contest.

The victors provided a balanced offensive attack in the triumph with four players collecting double-digit scoring efforts. Nas Amos (So.-Newark, N.J.) led Felician with 19 points and four assists in his 36 minutes. Dee-End McRae (Jr.-Newark, N.J.) followed with 18 points and nine boards. Etnik Peci (Jr.-Pristina, Kosovo) added 15 points (three 3-ptrs.) while B.J. Saliba (Jr.-Hackensack, N.J.) poured in 11 of his own.

The aforementioned Davis cleared the glass of a team-high 12 rebounds to go along with four points in 22 minutes off the Felician bench.

Davon Floyd netted a season-best 16 points and seven rebounds in 34 minutes for the royal-and-gold. Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor garnered 12 points in 26 minutes, followed by Beard with 11.

GCU gets right back at it Saturday afternoon with a 12:00 p.m. home game vs. Caldwell University (4-2, 4-2 CACC). Follow LIVE at www.caccnetwork.com/georgiancourt.
