Lions Move to 2-0 in Conference Play With 3-0 Friday Night Home Win Over Nyack

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University extended its shutout streak to three consecutive matches as the Lions, hosting Nyack College Friday night in the Wellness Center, blanked the visiting Warriors, 3-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's volleyball action.

The Lions (3-2, 2-0 CACC) opened the initial frame with a commanding 20-8 surplus before Nyack mounted a 10-4 run to cut the count to 24-18. Kayla Wilson floored a Faith Bennett dish to secure the 25-18 first-set win. Georgian Court controlled the contest from there with triumphs of 25-19 and 25-22, putting the victory in the books.

GCU peppered the Warriors for a .252 hitting percentage, which included 41 kills on the night. Nyack (1-1, 1-1 CACC), which could not muster a single kill in the opening set, concluded the match with a team hitting mark of .057.

Kinsy Haschke, who saw action in only the first two sets for the Lions, drilled a team-best 11 kills (.429 hitting %) for the victors. Wilson followed with eight kills on 18 attempts (.444). Aubrey Binkley, Nylene Mateo, and Grace Fenn (.500) each had six apiece. Ashley Pierson (16) and Bennett (13) each eclipsed double-digits in the assists column.

Jessica Sprankle prowled the Lions' back line and settled a team-high 16 digs while she and Binkley each zipped over a trio of service aces.

Jada Hamilton (Fr.-Cypress, Texas) paced Nyack with her 11 kills. Rachel Medin (Sr.-San Diego, Calif.) distributed 18 helpers for the Warriors while British Dawson (Sr.-Kailua, Hawaii) secured 11 digs. Katie Ames (So.-Wickenburg, Ariz.) contributed four service aces and seven digs in the effort.
