Caldwell, N.J. - Georgian Court University, needing a victory to clinch home-court advantage in next week's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament, got all that it could handle in Thursday's regular-season finale as the Lions outlasted host-Caldwell University, 3-2, to remain perfect in CACC play.

Amy Berry, who starred for GCU from 2009-12, certainly had her Cougars ready to go as the home team swiped the first set by a score of 25-22. Berry's former coach, Georgian Court's
Dan Sempkowski, righted the ship as his Lions pounced to secure the subsequent two frames by scores of 25-20 and 25-15.Â
The fourth stanza went extra time as Caldwell (3-3, 3-3 CACC) earned five of the set's last six points to win 27-25 and tie the match at two-all. The fifth-and-final session commenced in back-and-forth fashion, resulting in a 6-6 stalemate. GCU proceeded to earn seven of the next nine points to take a seemingly expansive 13-8 surplus. Not to be outdone, the Cougars rallied to secure four unanswered to make things uncomfortable for the Lions at 13-12.
After a strategic timeout by Georgian Court, the visitors found its mettle before swiping the the final two points to net the 15-12 win ... and seal the match.
Kinsy Haschke, the reigning CACC Co-Player of the Week, continues to play scorching-hot volleyball as the junior authored a hefty double-double consisting of 14 kills and 14 digs.
Grace Fenn matched her mate with 14 kills of her own, and an efficient .355 hitting percentage.
Faith Bennett, now regarded as one of the premier setters in the league, registered her fourth double-double of the season, highlighted with season-bests of 27 assists and 15 digs.
Trilby Kite followed with 22 helpers of her own while
Aubrey Binkley and
Paula Cespedes added 20 and 19 digs, respectively. Binkley also floored six more service aces to extend her lead to 35 in the conference.
Nahomie Alejandro Negron now leads all CACC players in blocks (35) after adding three more in Thursday's win.
Georgian Court (7-2, 6-0 CACC), seeking its second-straight conference crown, will open the CACC tournament Tuesday evening at 6PM in the Wellness Center. The CACC will release the bracket in the coming days with all action coming to you LIVE on the
