Anyssa Fields Takes CACC by Storm, Named CACC Player and Defensive Player of the Year ... Tian Addison Selected to All-CACC First Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- In a season that has been as unpredictable as any other in recent memory, one thing has remained consistent throughout ... the stellar play of Georgian Court University rookie standout, Anyssa Fields. For her efforts, the freshman phenom was named the 2020-21 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Basketball Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, as announced Tuesday by Commissioner Dan Mara. Fields swept the major player awards for this season, as voted on by the league's seven head coaches who had teams competing in the sport this season.

Fields led the league in scoring at 20.0 points per game during the regular season, as she helped guide GCU to a 7-0 record, the CACC regular season championship, and the No. 1 seed in this week's conference tournament. She also led the league in rebounding at 11.4 boards per game. In addition to the major awards, Fields was also named to the 2020-21 CACC Women's Basketball All-Conference Team.

Joining the Long Branch, N.J. native on the All-Conference squad is teammate Tian Addison. The sophomore guard started all seven games for the Lions, averaging 12.6 points-per-game, while collecting 25 assists and 17 steals on the year. The Baltimore, Md. native registered 10 or more points in each of her final five games, including a season-best 24 points and four three-pointers, March 9, in a 72-53 win at Caldwell University.
