Lakewood, N.J. - For the fourth time this spring season, Georgian Court University finds itself on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision as Jefferson upended the Lions by the aforementioned score Monday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer action.
GCU remains winless on its home turf (0-3) as the royal-and-gold falls to 2-4 (2-4 CACC) on the year. The Rams even its record at 3-3 (3-3 CACC) with the one-goal edging.
The visitors lit up the scoreboard almost immediately as
Val Mokrejs (Sr.-Elverson, Pa.) headed in a long throw-in from
Geoffrey Little (Jr.-Hanover, Pa.) to give the Rams a lightning-quick surplus just 0:43 into the contest.
Jefferson's cushion would hold until the 74th-minute (73:48) when
Kenny Navas served a corner kick to
Francisco Corral who, in turn, slipped a one-touch feed to
Joel Quist. The senior from Old Bridge, N.J. promptly placed the ball in the Rams' net for his first goal of the season, earning Navas and Corral an assist each on the play.
With the score knotted at 1-1, it would be Jefferson that would snap the stalemate as
Mohamed Jawara (So.- Paris, France) squirted in a long
Gabe Paz (Fr.-Mays Landing, N.J.) through-ball into the bottom left of the frame to secure what would be the game-winner at 84:42.
In an closely-matched scoring column, the victors edged the Lions, 13-10, with each squad putting three apiece on frame.
The Lions close out the abbreviated regular season this Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. home match vs. Caldwell University. Follow LIVE on the
CACC Network (No spectators permitted).
