Men's Soccer BACK in Big Way as Lions Collect 3-0 Conference Road Win at Holy Family

Philadelphia, Pa.- A Mathias Madersbacher goal just 1:22 into Tuesday's 2021 spring opener set the tone as Georgian Court University men's soccer coasted to an eventual 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road win at Holy Family University.

The contest marked the Lions' first competition since falling at Post University in the 2019 CACC men's soccer championship game back on Nov. 19, 2019 ... a mere 476 days ago.

Madersbacher's scoring effort marked the freshman's first collegiate tally. Joel Quist assisted on the play to provide GCU the early 1-0 cushion. Louis Silva made it 2-0 royal-and-gold in the 14th minute (13:31) as the senior sent in a loose ball for his first of the year. Tommaso Rio connected on a Quist cross in the second half (66:55) to put the contest well out of reach.

Georgian Court dominated the shot sheet with a 19-7 surplus, including an 8-2 margin on goal.

Jamie Hickey (1-0) earned the decision in frame for the victors as the senior net-minder collected a pair of saves in the complete-game performance.

GCU (1-0, 1-0 CACC) now sits idle until March 17 when the Lions host Nyack College at 3:30 p.m. Watch the action LIVE at www.caccnetwork.com/georgiancourt!
