NEW HAVEN, CT (Oct. 17, 2022) - Georgian Court goalkeeper
Sotirios Gkosdis guided his team to a 1-1 week and for his efforts took home the conference's Goalkeeper of the Week award.
In two games, Gkosdis allowed just two goals, one in each match. The Lions fell 1-0 in their first match at Jefferson, but Gkosdis made five saves.
Saturday for homecoming, Gkosdis had perhaps his finest game as a Lion. He made eight saves, including a handful of big ones in the closing minutes to keep GCU in front as the Lions upset CACC leaders Bridgeport.
With his 13 saves this week, Gkosdis moves into third all-time at Georgian Court for single-season saves with 70.
This is Gkosdis's second CACC Goalkeeper of the Week honor. He was also selected back in September. He's just the second goalkeeper in the league to earn multiple Goalkeeper of the Week honors this year.
Gkosdis and the Lions are back in action Friday. They head to Orangeburg, NY to take on Dominican.
