Hund's Second-Half Goal Pulls Georgian Court Even With Wilmington

LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Oct. 5, 2022) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer pulled even with Wilmington midway through the second half, and seemed to be gearing up to take the lead late, but the go-ahead goal never came as time expired on a 1-1 draw. The draw is the sixth for the Lions this season who now stand at 2-4-6 overall and 1-2-4 in the CACC.

How it Happened
• Georgian Court more than doubled Wilmington in totaled shots, 18-7 with 14 of those coming in the second half.
• The shots on goal however favored Wilmington 4-3.
• Georgian Court picked up three corner kicks in each half and didn't give up any to the Wildcats.
• Two yellow cards were issued to Wilmington, both in the second half. Wilmington also picked up 16 fouls to the Lions five.
• There was a lot of feeling out early in the match. Aside from an offside on GCU and a foul on Wilmington, there wasn't much action in the first 10+ minutes.
• The first shot of the game came from Wilmington in the 15th minute, a save for Alyssa Dias who barely needed to move to secure the save.
• On the punt following the save, Wilmington came up with the 50-50 ball and Julia Yuhase dribbled around numerous GCU defenders. She stepped inside and fired a shot on net which went off Dias, off the crossbar and to the surprise of many was ruled to have crossed the line for the first goal of the match.
• The offense started to come together for the Lions late in the half. Krystal Hund and Brianna Hills each had shots at the 31 minute mark. GCU added a couple more shots and two corner kicks before the end of the half and kept the Wildcats from getting any shots off after the goal, a span of roughly 30 minutes.
• Early in half number two, Bridgette King had the first scoring opportunity for either side. She collected a pass, spun left and fired but put it right on Wilmington goalkeeper Mio Nakajima's chest.
• GCU continued to earn opportunities, putting more shots on net and earning corner kicks. In the 62nd minute, Abby Kennelly flipped the field to find a streaking Sophia Ridolfo. Ridolfo then kicked it back towards the back post and found Krystal Hund who headed it to tie the match.
• The Lions seemed to be on offense the entire second half, but couldn't add a second tally to the scoresheet. In the final 12 minutes, the Lions took six shots, but none reached the net.
• Wilmington did their best to run out the clock and survived the Lions offensive flurry to hold on to a 1-1 tie.
