LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Dec. 31, 2022) - After starting the CACC season 3-0 for the first time in team history, Georgian Court Men's Basketball suffered a New Year's Eve setback at the hands of Post. The Eagles used a strong second half to defeat the Lions 83-59 and drop GCU to 7-5 on the season and 3-1 in the CACC.
How it Happened

• The Eagles shot 48.4% overall and 39.3% from three while the Lions were 8-24 in each half.
• Part of what made GCU successful in the early portion of the season was their control of the ball. This afternoon, Georgian Court committed 17 turnovers to the Eagles 10.
• GCU had the edge on the glass with 36 rebounds to Post's 34.
• The Lions opened the game scoring the first four points with
Clint Wright, Jr. and
Christian Armstrong-Thomas each putting in layups. That lead didn't last though as the Eagles scored five straight for a 5-4 lead. Tied at seven, Post used a 9-2 run to jump out to a 16-9 lead. David Jasson scored five points as Post was 3-3 during the stretch.
• Georgian Court was able to bring the lead down to two, 19-17, after a pair of
Jamaal Waters free throws. The teams traded baskets and with 6:40 left in the first, Wright, Jr. buried a three to make it a one-point game, 26-25. Post though responded by closing out the final 4:31 on a 12-4 run as they took a 40-31 lead into halftime.
• To start the second half, everything was falling for Post. They quickly turned a nine-point lead into a 20-point lead as they opened the half on a 14-3 run. They made six of their first seven shots including three-pointers to take a 54-34 lead with 15:23 left to play.
• Georgian Court was never able to chip away at the lead as the Eagles shot 53% in the half and ran away with an 83-59 win.
It Was Over When...
