Newark, Del. - Georgian Court University's
Olisa Ngonadi put together his fourth double-double in only eight total games sporting the royal-and-gold on an otherwise somber evening as the Lions saw its valiant push for a postseason position come to a close with Tuesday's 78-63 divisional setback at Wilmington University.
With the win, the Wildcats (6-10 CACC, 9-17 overall) take a 1.5-game lead over Holy Family University (4-11 CACC). GCU drops to 3-13 in conference play (4-20 overall) in the defeat.
Wilmington snapped a 10-10 tie (14:59-first half) with a 9-0 run and never looked back as the home team coasted into intermission carrying a 41-28 cushion. The WU lead would climb as high as 17 on two occasions in the second stanza, and never dip below double-digits, en route to the triumph.
Danny Walsh (Gr.-Bear, Del.) paced the Wildcats with his 24 points while
Randy Rickards (Jr.-Milton, Del.) concocted a double-double consisting of 23 points and 10 boards in the win.
Justin Thomas (Jr.-Newark, Del.) and
Nalik Veasley (Fr.-Clayton, Del.) followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ngonadi closed out his night with 14 points and 11 boards for the Lions.
Clint Wright, Jr. hit for 12 points in the effort while
Donavin Crawford added 11 points of his own for GCU.
Georgian Court heads back to campus and preps to host Jefferson this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the Lions' home-floor season finale.
