Women's Soccer Secures 2-2 Stalemate at Pace

Pleasantville, N.Y. - A 2-2 draw was the result of Thursday evening's women's soccer season opener at Pace University. The contest marked the first of the year for both squads.

Pace sophomore Allison Carr (So.- Plantsville,Conn.) provided the Setters with an initial 1-0 advantage with a header at the 11:17 mark in the first half. Shannon Selvaggio (Jr.-Warwick,N.Y) registered an assist in the effort. 

The Lions answered shortly after. Senior duo Aliya Canfield (Sr.-Beachwood, N.J.) and Emily Clayton (Sr.- Wall, N.J) netted penalties in the 19th and 20th minutes, to give Georgian Court a 2-1 lead.

The Setters would strike again in the 86th minute as senior Hannah Sugden (Sr.-Adams,N.Y) found the back of the net to tie the game.

Alyssa Dias (Sr.-Bayville,N.J.) earned the start in frame for the Lions (0-0-1), securing seven saves in the complete-game effort (110:00) to start her senior campaign. 

Georgian Court now preps for its next contest this Saturday night at 5:00 p.m. when they travel back to Pleasantville,N.Y to take on New Haven University in another non-conference match.
