CALDWELL, N.J. (Sept. 17, 2022) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer played to their CACC leading third tie Saturday afternoon. Neither the Lions nor the Caldwell Cougars were able to come up with a goal in 90 minutes, as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
How it Happened
• Caldwell was the aggressor most of the afternoon. They led in shots 17-5 and shots on goal 10-3.Â
• The teams were evenly matched in fouls at eight-each and Caldwell held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 4-3.
• Four total yellow cards were issued, three in the first half. Caldwell was called for three of the cards and Georgian Court just one.
• Each team tested the opposing goaltender early as
Alyssa Dias and Ariana Gaminara were forced to make a save in the first 10 minutes.Â
• Following a Caldwell yellow card, the Lions had a corner kick at the 11:55 mark, but were unable to get a shot off towards the net.
• Each team had a smattering of opportunities the rest of the half, but nothing that the netminders couldn't handle. The final 7:30 of the opening half saw neither team get a shot on net and just one total shot.
• A corner kick in the 47th minute led to
Jane Paschen getting a shot on net, but it was another save for Gaminara.Â
• Perhaps the best opportunity for Caldwell came in the 65th minute. They got off three shots in a 63 second span, but Dias made two saves and the third shot sailed wide.Â
• The final 20 minutes of the match saw just four total shots and with no overtime to play in the regular season, both teams took the draw and their one point.
