Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rams Get Past Lions in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Feb. 14, 2023) - Back in December, Georgian Court Men's Basketball did something they never had before in defeating Jefferson. The Lions looked to double up on that win, going for the season sweep Tuesday night. The sweep wasn't to be though as Jefferson built an early 10-point lead and went on to win 78-59. The loss drops GCU to 7-8 in the CACC with just two games left and 11-14 overall.

How it Happened
• Jefferson shot better than 50% for the game hitting on 24-46 and were 10-25 from three. Georgian Court was 20-54 overall and 6-25 from behind the arc.
• The Lions committed 24 fouls as the Rams were 20-26 from the free throw line. GCU hit 13-19 at the stripe.
• Jefferson held a 37-27 advantage in rebounds. The Lions though outscored the Rams 24-20 in points in the paint. GCU also grabbed 10 offensive rebounds and scored 13 second-chance points.
• The teams traded baskets at the outset and a Jamaal Waters three-point play tied the game at eight a little over five minutes in.
• Jefferson answered though with five straight going up 13-8. Cameron Edmonds made it a two-point game draining a three with 11:55 remaining in the half.
• The Rams went on a couple of runs in the back half of the first. They outscored the Lions 13-3 in a 7:20 span to push their lead to 10, 26-16.
• A three-point play from Hassan Jackson brought the lead to six, 26-20, but Jefferson responded again closing the half outscoring the Lions 12-3 in the final 2:51.
• Jefferson shot 56% in the first half connecting on 6-13 from downtown.
• Early on in the second half, Clint Wright, Jr. capped a 4-0 Lions run to close the gap to 13 with 17:24 and the tide seemed to be turning towards GCU.
• Jefferson though answered scoring seven of the next eight, opening their lead to a game-high 19, 49-30.
• Georgian Court tried to keep things close, fighting back to within 12 on a couple of occasions. Each time though Jefferson had an answer to keep the Lions at arm's length.
• Late in the game, Jefferson took a 20-point lead and ran out the clock on their way to a 78-59 win.

It Was Over When...
