PALISADES, NJ (April 13, 2023) - Georgian Court Softball went on the road against a 14-win Felician team and swept both ends of a doubleheader with the Golden Falcons. After the games got moved twice because of weather, the two teams finally met with GCU coming out on top 9-1 in six innings and 7-4 in game two.
Game One - Georgian Court 9, Felician 1 - 6 Innings
How it Happened
• Georgian Court had everything working in game one collecting 12 hits and holding Felician to just three.
• After Felician got a run in the first,
Maddie Rabe held them scoreless over the final five innings.
• The game started with back-to-back hits from
Taylor Lipkins and
Adriana Mungo.
Kaitlyn Stufft and
Jayda Jones followed with RBI singles as GCU staked
Maddie Rabe out to a 2-0 lead.
• Felician got one back in the home half on a sacrifice fly, an unearned run which allowed the runner to advance into scoring position.Â
• The Lions tacked on three more in the second inning.
Jadalynn Rodriguez led off with a walk and Lipkins went opposite field for a triple to score Rodriguez.
• After that, it was the same duo as the first inning, Stufft and Jones driving in Lipkins and Mungo with RBI singles.

Taylor Barraza drove in Jones in the fifth with a double and Lipkins' infield single allowed
Lia DeMaio to score as well.
• Leading 7-1, the Lions weren't done. In the sixth
Brittany Gable scored Jones with a ground out and a Golden Falcon error brought in the Lions ninth run.
Lions Stat Leaders

Jayda Jones reached base four times with three singles and a walk. She drove in two and scored twice.

Taylor Lipkins finished 3-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
•
Kaitlyn Stufft had a pair of run-scoring singles.

Taylor Barraza doubled home a run as a part of her two-hit game.Â

Maddie Rabe needed just 70 pitches to retire the Golden Falcons in six innings. She allowed an unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts.
For the Golden Falcons
• Hannah Ramirez picked up two hits and scored a run.Â
• Alexis Velotta doubled in a 1-3 game.
• Riley Williams struck out five but allowed seven runs on nine hits while also walking three and hitting two.Â
• Mikayla Brown allowed two runs, one earned in two innings of relief with three strikeouts.
Game Two - Georgian Court 7, Felician 4
How it Happened
• Game two featured three lead changes in a back-and-forth game.
• The Lions outhit Felician 9-8.Â
• Georgian Court took advantage of three Felician errors to score three unearned runs which proved the difference in the game.
• Once again Georgian Court got on the board in the first. After
Taylor Lipkins walked,
Adriana Mungo drove her in for a 1-0 lead two batters into the game.
• With two outs in the inning,
Jayda Jones picked right back up where she left off in game one with an RBI single to bring in
Savannah Simons.
• The lead didn't last long though as Felician scored three times in the bottom of the inning to take their first lead of the day, 3-2.
• In the third with Mungo on third, Simons legged out an infield single as Mungo scored the game-tying run.
• For the second time in the game, Felician responded right away. The retook the lead with an RBI ground out.
• The Lions took the lead for good in the fifth. With the bases loaded,
Taylor Barraza singled up the middle and another run came in on a fielding error.
• GCU tacked on with two more in the sixth. Jones with another two-out hit, this time a double to bring in Simons and
Coco Dunham.

Sam Hildebrant did the rest allowing just a single over the final two innings to complete the Lions sweep.
Lions Stat Leaders

Jayda Jones finished 3-3 with a double and three RBI.Â

Savannah Simons scored three times going 2-3.
•
Adriana Mungo doubled and scored twice while driving in a run.

Jadalynn Rodriguez reached base twice with a single, walk and a stolen base.Â

Sam Hildebrant got the win pitching 6.1 innings allowing a run on five hits while striking out two.
For the Golden Falcons
• Alexis De La Cruz threw the first six innings allowing seven runs, four earned with three walks.
• Mikayla Brown was 1-2 with three RBI and a double. She also pitched the final inning without allowed a run.Â
• Kathryn Steinmetz picked up two hits and a run.
• Vienna Chierchia finished 3-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.Â

Jayda Jones was not retired in either game. She was 6-6 with a walk and a hit by pitch and drove in five runs.Â

• The Lions improve to 17-5 this season when scoring in the first inning.
