WILMINGTON, DE (April 18, 2021) - Not all softball games are created equal. Tuesday afternoon Georgian Court and Goldey-Beacom played a doubleheader and the two games couldn't have been any different. Georgian Court dominated the first in a 16-1 win in five innings. Game two was twice as long in terms of number of innings. That game went 10 with the Lightning winning on a walk-off walk, 6-5. Georgian Court moves to 27-15 on the season and 11-5 in the CACC.

• On the bases, GCU stole four. They also advanced on three sacrifice hits and scored on a sacrifice fly.

Adriana Mungo scored
Taylor Lipkins. Four batters later,

• GCU got a run in the second, then RBI hits from Jones and

• The Lions put the hammer down in the fourth. They scored seven runs on six hits.

Game Two Goldey-Beacom 6, Georgian Court 5 - 10 Innings
How it Happened
• Game two was the complete opposite from game one. It took twice as many innings to complete.
• There were plenty of runners left on base with GCU leaving nine and Goldey-Beacom 13.
• Things started off in a similar fashion. Three batters into the game,
Taylor Lipkins singled and stole second.
Adriana Mungo walked and
Kaitlyn Stufft brought them all in with a home run to left.
• The lead didn't last long though as the Lightning put up a three-spot of their own in the home half of the first.
• The scored stayed tied until the fourth. A leadoff walk came back to hurt as a two-out throwing error allowed the go-ahead run to cross.
• In the sixth,
Jayda Jones led off with a double. She was moved over to third on
Taylor Barraza's ground out, but an errant throw trying to get Jones at third allowed Jones to score with the tying run.
• One inning later, Lipkins was on first with one out, carrying the go-ahead run. She took off for second and was caught stealing for the first time all season, after 37 straight successful attempts. That derailed the inning and the game went into extras.
• Starting in the ninth inning, a runner is placed on second base. With two outs, Lipkins and Mungo each walked to load the bases, but Stufft struck out and GCU failed to score.
• Goldey-Beacom needed just one run to win. Their placed runner stole third, but then got picked off to take the runner out of scoring position. Two more ground outs ended the inning.
• With two outs in the 10th and Stufft still on second, Barraza came up with a clutch RBI single to score Stufft and give the Lions a 5-4 lead.
• The Lightning played small ball in the bottom of the 10th. They looked to move the runner over with a bunt, but the throw to first wasn't handled cleanly and everyone was safe.
• A stolen base put two runners in scoring position with no outs. Another Lightning bunt didn't result in an out. This one was well placed and beat out for a single while the tying run scored.
• After another stolen base, the Lightning tried the same play to win the game. This time the bunt was fielded and Simons flipped to Mungo to get the runner trying to score from third.
• A hit by pitch loaded the bases with one out, but
Jackie Cherry got a strikeout for the second out. With the bases loaded though, a close pitch was called ball four and the Lightning scored the game-winning run on a walk-off walk.
