LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 22, 2023) Georgian Court dominated game two of a doubleheader with Dominican 9-1 in five innings, but it's game one they might want to have back. With just six games left in the regular season, Georgian Court is now 28-16 and 12-6 in the CACC.
Game Two - Georgian Court 9, Dominican 1 - Five Innings
How it Happened
• GCU had it all working collecting nine runs on 10 hits. They hit for three doubles and also stole two bases.
• Dominican managed just three hits, all singles.
• Georgian Court took advantage of some defensive miscues as five of the nine runs Dominican allowed were unearned. GCU played a clean game in the field themselves.
• In the second
Savannah Simons led off with a double. With two outs and runners on second and third
Jadalynn Rodriguez singled sharply to center as Simons and pinch runner
Lia DeMaio came in to score and give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
• The fourth inning started with a
Taylor Barraza fly out. Or so we thought. She was eventually awarded first base on a catcher's interference and the out was taken off the board.
• After
Coco Dunham pinch ran for Barraza and stole second,
Brittany Gable drove her in with an opposite field single to right center.Â
• With two outs in the inning, GCU scored four more times.
Taylor Lipkins singled to bring in Gable.

Jayda Jones picked up career hit number 100 to bring in Stufft and the Lions led 7-0.

• That's how the game stayed until the seventh. The Chargers put the first six runners on base in the seventh and back-to-back singles tied the game before a fielder's choice put Dominican up 8-7.
• The Chargers looked to add on with the bases loaded and nobody out, but
Jackie Cherry got out of that getting two ground balls, the second of which was an inning-ending double-play.
