NEW HAVEN, Conn. (June 21, 2023) - The accolades keep rolling in for Georgian Court Men's Lacrosse senior Daniel Burnham. Earlier this afternoon, it was announced that Burnham was named just the third College Sports Communicators Academic All-American in Georgian Court history. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) has now announced their Student-Athlete of the Month for May, with the honor going to, none other than, Daniel Burnham.

The CACC Student-Athlete of the Month Award is handed out each month from September through May, spanning the course of the academic calendar. Each monthly award winner is chosen among all CACC men's and women's teams that competed during that month and must be a standout in athletics, be a terrific student and give back to their local communities.

On the lacrosse field, Burnham played a major role in helping the Lions to the CACC Men's Lacrosse Regular Season Championship and a berth in the league final. Burnham scored four goals and assisted on another for five points during the month. He popped in a pair of tallies in a thrilling 16-14 win over Post University in the CACC semifinals on May 5, followed by two more markers in the championship final against Chestnut Hill College on May 7.

Burnham was named to the All-CACC First Team, as it marked the second time in his collegiate career that he earned the honor. He graduates GCU as the program's all-time leader in points with 181. This season he totaled 59 points with 32 goals and 27 assists while also adding 32 ground balls and causing five turnovers. 

A native of Islip Terrace, N.Y., Burnham boasts a 3.94 cumulative grade point average in his graduate degree program of business administration. He was named to the Georgian Court Dean's List multiple times during his career. Burnham was also a four-time CACC All-Academic Team honoree during his time in Lakewood. As a senior, he was selected to the USILA All-Region Team and as a member of the CSC Adademic All-American Second Team. 

Burnham was also active in giving back to his local community during his career at Georgian Court. He was part of the school's Christmas Angels which partnered with local organizations to purchase Christmas gifts for local families in need. Burnham also participated in local breast cancer awareness walks to raise money, and took part in numerous campus cleanup projects.

Burnham is the fifth Lion to be named the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month in the 2022-23 season. He joins volleyball's Nylene Mateo, cross country's Kyle Spector, basketball's Clint Wright, Jr. and softball's Adriana Mungo.
