ORANGEBURG, NY (Jan. 14, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball couldn't match three-pointers with Dominican Sunday afternoon in New York. The Chargers made 10 of them, seven of them in the second half of their 87-70 win over the Lions. Georgian Court falls to 2-13 overall and are still in search of their first CACC win at 0-4.
How it Happened
• Dominican finished the game shooting better than 50% hitting 34-of-64. The Lions made 26-of-59 and shot 44% overall.
• The Chargers lit it up from three making 10-of-26. GCU couldn't keep up sinking just 4-12.
• Georgian Court did have an advantage at the foul line making 14-of-16. Dominican was 9-12.
• Dominican forced the Lions in 19 turnovers and scored 15 points from the them. The Chargers lost the ball just 13 times.
• On the glass, the Lions had a slight advantage, 34-31. Despite a 13-10 advantage on the offensive glass, Dominican outscored GCU 11-10 in second-chance points.
First Half
• It was a feeling-out process at the start, with neither team getting much of an advantage.

Clint Wright, Jr. started the game hitting a jump shot.
•
Cameron Edmonds put GCU back in front, 9-8, with a jumper of his own just over four minutes in.
• A
Justin Harper basket and a foul for a three-point play gave the Lions a 17-15 lead midway through the half.
• Dominican made a run after that, outscoring the Lions 12-3 and forcing a timeout.
• The Chargers pressed on and hit a three for a 10-point lead, 30-20, still with 6:16 to play in the first.
• Georgian Court chipped away though.
Clint Wright, Jr. buried a three of his own to get the Charger lead back into single digits.

Amari Jones made a pair at the line in the final minute and the Charger lead was still seven, 38-31, at the end of the first half.
• Georgian Court's foul shooting in the first half kept things close. They were 6-8 while Dominican was just 1-2 thanks to the Lions staying out of foul trouble.
Second Half
• Three-pointers were raining down to start the second half. Six them in the first five minutes including four from Dominican's Javel Cherry.
• Cherry's fourth triple in less than five minutes made it a 51-41 Charger lead.
• After the two teams were going back and forth, Dominican took charge with a 9-2 run. That extended their lead to 14, 57-43, with 12:34 to play in the game as the Lions called a timeout.
• Georgian Court quickly scored four straight to bring the Charger lead back down to 10, but the three-ball kept falling for the Chargers who buried another, going up 60-47.
• A Charger steal and score gave them their largest lead, 76-59, with just over five minutes left to play.

Cameron Edmonds hit a three and the Lions were poised to give it one final go, bringing the lead down to 12, 80-68, but another three from Javel was the cherry on top and the Lions left Orangeburg with an 87-70 loss.

Cameron Edmonds led the Lions scoring 16 points going 6-12 overall and 2-4 from three with five rebounds.

Taheen Braswell-Brown added 11 points and five boards on 5-10 shooting.

Clint Wright, Jr. added 10 with a pair of triples.

Hassan Jackson filled the stat sheet with six points, six rebounds and four assists.

Anthony Rivera chipped in 10 points on 4-6 shooting.
For the Chargers
• Javel Cherry scored a game-high 26 points making 6-9 from three and 10-14 overall.
• Seth Sharif-Brown also scored 20 going 8-13 from the floor with five rebounds.
• Joseph Merrill added nine with four rebounds.
• Jaden Honis was in double-figures with 10 points and five assists.

Hassan Jackson scored his 150th career point. Jackson also set a career-high with four assists and matched a career-best with six rebounds.
