PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Jan. 23, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball started a three-game road swing Tuesday night in Philadelphia. It wasn't the start to the trip they were looking for as GCU fell to Chestnut Hill 84-53.
How it Happened
• Chestnut Hill shot better than 50% from the floor hitting 26-of-50 and were 12-25 from deep.
• The Lions hit just 22-62 and struggled from three going 2-18.
• The Griffins also were adept at getting to the foul line where they were 20-25. Georgian Court shot 7-10 at the line.
• Neither team turned the ball over much. The Lions lost it 13 times, but that led to 21 CHC points. The Lions forced just eight Griffin giveaways.
• Georgian Court did win the rebounding battle 37-34. They also grabbed 15 offensive rebounds. Chesnut Hill guarded the rim with six blocked shots.
First Half
• Georgian Court found themselves down early in this one. It took more than two minutes for either team to score, that was a pair of free throws from Chestnut Hill.
• The Griffins the connected for back-to-back three-pointers going up 10-4 early in the half.
• The Lions were scoreless for 3:30 as the Griffins lead went to 11, 15-4.

Anthony Rivera ended the 8-0 CHC run with a layup, but Chestnut Hill continued to score.
• Another pair of three-pointers had the Griffins up 16, 27-11, with just under eight minutes to play in the half.
• Three-pointers kept falling for the Griffins and Argel Pettit hit another and this time it came with a foul for a four-point play and 33-11 lead.
• The Griffins pushed their lead to as much 23, 38-15 with 3:13 to play in the half.
• Georgian Court found some life though after that, going on a 10-1 run, cutting the lead to 39-25.
• At the end of the half though, Neal Hill beat the buzzer with a layup and CHC led 41-25 at intermission.
• Three-point shooting were a key in the opening half, CHC was 6-13 and GCU 2-10. The Lions also turned the ball over twice as much as the Griffins, 8-4. Those eight turnovers led to 15 CHC points.
Second Half
• Chestnut Hill quickly pushed their lead back over 20.
• They used an 11-2 run to build a 52-29 lead and force a Lion timeout.
• It was all academic after that. The teams traded points as the clock ticked down on a, 84-53 Griffin win.

Clint Wright, Jr. finished with 14 points and four rebounds.

Anthony Rivera was 6-7 from the floor scoring 12 points with eight boards.
•
Taheen Braswell-Brown was also in double-figures with 11 points.
For the Griffins
• Argel Pettit led all scorers with 18 points. He was 7-7 at the free throw line.
• Donaldo Imo was 3-3 from deep scoring 16 points.
• Neal Hill had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
• Alejandro Cybak added 12 points, going 8-11 at the line.

Cameron Edmonds scored his 400th career point.
• Georgian Court is now 5-14 all-time against the Griffins.
• Last year the road team won each game in this series. It's the first win for a home team in three games.
• Lion opponents have shot better than 35% from three in four of their last five games.
