PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (January 9, 2023) - Georgian Court had a strong second half, outscoring Jefferson 38-33. But a swoon late in the first half built a Rams lead that proved insurmountable with the Lions coming up short, 76-64.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court finished the game shooting 47% while the Rams were a tick above 45% for the game.
• Jefferson made seven more three-pointers hitting 10-26 with the Lions making 3-10.
• Free throws helped the Rams who made 18-of-23. GCU attempted just seven free throws, hitting five.
• The Lions won the battle on the boards, 36-27. That included 10 offensive rebounds and 10 second-chance points.
• The Ram defense though was on display with 10 blocked shots, nine steals and forced 17 Lion turnovers. Jefferson lost the ball just 11 times.
First Half
• After getting down 5-2 at the outset of the game, Georgian Court took their first lead, 6-5, on a
Justin Harper layup.
• The teams traded baskets and the lead multiple times in the first 10 minutes of action.

Clint Wright, Jr. hit a three to give the Lions a 13-11 lead, and
Cameron Edmonds doubled that with another three, putting GCU up 18-14.
• Georgian Court started the game 8-11 overall and 2-2 from three.
• After that, the Lions went ice cold though. Jefferson went on a 10-0 run taking a 26-20 lead and led until halftime.
• The Lions woes continued the rest of the half. After starting 8-11, GCU finished 3-16 and the Rams outscored the Lions 27-6 to lead 43-26 at the half
Second Half
• It took almost three full minutes into the half for either team to score. Jefferson got a free throw 2:32 into the second.
• After the Rams layup, GCU scored eight straight and cut the lead down to 10, 44-34, at the first media timeout.
• Coming out of the timeout,
Charles Anyichie cleaned up the offensive glass and his layup made it 10 straight for the Lions and brought the Ram lead into single digits.
• The Rams ended the Lions 10-0 run with a Bismark Nsiah three-pointer.
• No problem for the Lions though who answered by scoring six straight. A layup from Taheen Braswell Brown brought the Ram lead down to just five, 47-42, with 13 minutes to play.
• Jefferson pushed the lead back to 10 scoring five straight, but
Justin Harper answered right away burying a three-pointer.
• The teams went back-and-forth and with just under five minutes to play,
Clint Wright, Jr.'s jumper made it a nine-point game, 67-58.
• Still trailing by nine with 1:43 to play, the Lions couldn't get any closer and a Hakim Byrd three-point play put the game away for the Rams, 76-64

Justin Harper led GCU scoring 15 points and going 7-9 overall with four rebounds.

Clint Wright, Jr. added 13 with five rebounds.
•
Cameron Edmonds was also in double-figures with 10 points.
•
Anthony Rivera scored six with six rebounds and three assists.
For the Rams
• Erik Timko finished with a game-high 21 points going 5-10 overall, 3-5 from three and 8-8 at the line.
• Ashton Miller and Ahmed Barba-Bey each scored 13.
• Antonin Kemkeng added 12 and five rebounds.

Clint Wright, Jr. played in his 75th career game to move to eighth all-time.
• Wright, Jr. also moved up the Lions all-time scoring list to No. 3 in Lions history. He now has 1,108 career points.

Cameron Edmonds made his 50th career three-pointer.

Justin Harper each scored their 100th point this season.
• The Lions drop to 1-18 and 0-10 on the road all-time against the Rams.
