Men's Basketball Sees Bloomsburg Pull Away in Second Half of 75-58 Loss

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Nov. 16, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball was within one early in the second half, but Bloomsburg pulled away shooting 52% for the half in a 75-58 win in Lakewood. The loss drops GCU to 0-3 to start the season.

How it Happened
• For the game, Bloomsburg shot 46% overall while the Lions were a tick under 34%.
• Georgian Court made more three-pointers, but were 8-31 while the Huskies hit 7-19.
• Neither team showed much at the foul line where Bloomsburg was 10-16. GCU didn't get many attempts from the stripe but finished 4-9.
• Rebounding numbers saw Bloomsburg with a slight edge, 46-42. GCU led in offensive boards and second-chance points.
• Georgian Court turned the ball over 17 times, but forced 16.
1st Half
• It was a good one at the start. Neither team led by more than four points until the 2:16 mark of the half.
• Trailing 18-14, Amari Jones hit a corner three to get the Lions back to within one.
• Bloomsburg answered with a bucket and then both teams went cold for more than three minutes.
• Jacob Santiago tied the game at 20 with a three-ball. Taheen Braswell-Brown gave the Lions a brief lead, 23-22 with a free throw with 5:52 left to play.
• The Huskies scored at the five-minute mark and led the rest of the half.
• Bloomsburg used an 11-2 run to build an eight point lead with just 1:12 remaining in the half.
• Off of a turnover, Cam Edmonds scored and it was a six-point game, 33-27 at the half.
2nd Half
• Georgian Court had an outstanding first minute of the second half. Miles White came up with a steal and dished to Edmonds who scored in transition.
• After a Bloomsburg miss, Edmonds sank a three and it was a one-point game, 33-32, and Bloomsburg needed a timeout to regroup.
• The Huskies still hadn't scored and GCU had three attempts to tie or take the lead, but couldn't do so.
• Bloomsburg finally broke through in the second and scored eight points in less than two minutes to suddenly get on top by nine, 41-32.
• An Edmonds layup and-one made it a six-point game, 45-39, but Bloomsburg came right back with a three-pointer, then another a minute later, and the lead was in double-figures the rest of the way.
• Bloomsburg saw their lead go up to as much as 23 with 5:31 left to play. Georgian Court outscored the Huskies by eight the rest of the way, but BU was in control and the game ended 75-58.

• Cam Edmonds scored 21 points on 8-19 shooting going 4-12 from three with 10 rebounds.
• Justin Soranno pulled down nine rebounds with three blocked shots.
• Jacob Santiago scored nine points.
• Justin Harper scored nine with five assists. 

For the Huskies
• Matt Bengel finished with a game-high 24 on 10-19 shooting with 10 rebounds.
• Louie Wild grabbed 11 rebounds and scored 10.
• Jagger Dressler was also in double-figures with 10 points and four steals.
• Mo Richards scored six points with 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.
• Isiah Sherman scored 13 going 4-6 from the floor and 5-7 at the line. 

News and Notes
• Georgian Court is now 0-3 all-time against Bloomsburg.
• Taheen Braswell-Brown scored his 250th career point.
• Donavin Crawford put in his 100th career field goal.
• Cam Edmonds played in his first game since January 23 of the 2023-24 season and pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.
