ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NJ (Nov. 20, 2024) - Molloy men's basketball had an outstanding shooting night and despite Georgian Court's best efforts to keep up, scoring a season-high tying 75 points, Molloy was not slowing down and took down GCU 92-75.
How it Happened
• Molloy was red-hot shooting 54.1% overall and 53.6% from behind the arc.
• Georgian Court hit a 11 three-pointers of their own shooting 31.4% from deep and 37.5% overall.
• At the line, GCU was 16-25 and Molloy made 11-of-18.
• Rebounding again was a problem for Georgian Court. Molloy pulled down 45 to GCU's 30.
• Georgian Court did a great job in the turnover battle. They lost the ball just 10 times while forcing 21 turnovers.
1st Half
• Molloy got the scoring started early hitting a three-pointer on their first attempt of the night.
• GCU struggled from the outset and Molloy raced out to a 23-3 lead as Georgian Court went more than six minutes without scoring.
• Georgian Court went on an 8-0 late in the first half with
Cam Edmonds scoring six of the eight points.
• That cut the lead down to 14, but a three in the final minute put Molloy up 46-29 at the half.
• Molloy was 8-11 from three in the first half.
2nd Half
• Georgian Court found more rhythm offensively in the second half. They matched Molloy scoring 46 points in the final 20 minutes.
• GCU shot 43% in the second, but still couldn't contain Molloy who hit another seven three-pointers in the second half.
• Georgian Court tried to claw back in late in the half. Edmonds and
Justin Harper each made layups to get GCU within eight with less than 10 minutes left to play.
• Molloy though responded with a 6-0 run and led by double-figures the rest of the way.
• Georgian Court made each of their final three shots in the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome Molloy's sharp shooting in the 92-75 loss.
Lion Stat Leaders

Cam Edmonds led the Lions scoring 21 points on 7-19 shooting with five rebounds.

Justin Harper was also in double-figures scoring 17 going 3-8 from three.

Jacob Santiago and
Donavin Crawford were each 3-5 from three and scored nine points. Santiago also dished out three assists.

Amari Jones scored eight with six rebounds.
•
Caleb Mims also picked up six boards along with four assists and three steals.
For Molloy
• Payton Shumpert scored a game-best 25 points going 7-12 from three.
• Rob Matos also scored 20 totaling 23 with four three-pointers.
• Matt Lane recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
• Bryce Merchantwas 6-8 overall for 18 points with seven rebounds.

• Georgian Court matched a season-high scoring 75 points.

Khalil Baker scored his 100th career point.
• Georgian Court's 10 turnovers are their fewest since committing eight last season against Davenport, Nov. 25, 2023.
• The last time a GCU opponent shot 53% from three while making at least 15 three-pointers was Goldey-Beacom, Dec. 1, 2021 when they were 17-31.
