LAKEWOOD, NJ (Dec. 7, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball put on an outstanding offensive display Saturday afternoon in Lakewood. The Lions got out fast and never let off the gas, leading from the first minute to the final buzzer in an 81-66 victory over Chestnut Hill. The win is the Lions second on the season, putting them at 2-7 on the year and 1-1 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court shot nearly 50%, connecting on 24-of-51 field goals.
• They were also sharp from downtown hitting 41%.
• Chestnut Hill meanwhile shot 37.3% overall and 27.3 from behind the arc.
• Each team made 22 free throw and attempted more than 30. The Griffins were 22-31 and the Lions 22-34.
• Chestnut Hill won the battle on the glass, 39-29. They pulled down 13 offensive rebounds but could only turn those into 12 points.
• Georgian Court did a good job of holding onto the ball. They turned it over just 11 times and forced 15 Chestnut Hill giveaways.
1st Half
• For all intents and purposes, this one was over pretty quick. The Lions scored the first seven getting a pair of buckets from
Justin Soranno and a three-pointer from
Donavin Crawford just over two minutes into the game.
• GCU continued pouring it on.
Amari Jones hit a three and Crawford another one and the Lion lead quickly hit double-figures at 13-2.
• Chesnut Hill really had no answer for the Lion offense. With the Lion lead at nine, 18-9, GCU went on a 12-1 run and pushed the lead all the way to 20, 30-10 with 7:49 left to play. Soranno buried another triple and
Miles White scored three the hard way with a layup and a free throw.
• The Griffins were able to get a bit of sustained offense towards the end of the half. The cut the lead back down to 10, 32-22 with a 12-2 run of their own.
• But GCU scored eight of the final nine in the final 1:40, helped out by going 5-6 at the line.
• At the final buzzer, Jones just got the shot off in time for a three-pointer to put GCU up 40-23 at the break.
2nd Half
• Chestnut Hill had one final push early in the second half. They were able to score seven straight and cut the lead back down to 10, 47-37 with 13:59 left to play.
• The Lion lead never dipped below 10 though. GCU responded with a 15-4 run and after a
Jacob Santiago steal and
Cam Edmonds fast break finish, the lead was back over 20 at 62-41 with less than 10 minutes remaining.
• The lead hovered around 20 for most of the rest of the game. Edmonds hit a jumper with 3:13 left to give GCU their largest lead, 73-49.
• GCU emptied their bench soon after and
Justin Agyare-Nkansah and
Khalil Baker got in on the act scoring in the final minutes to get the Lion total over 80 in their 81-66 win.
Lion Stat Leaders

Cam Edmonds scored a game-high 20 points on 6-13 shooting and was 6-7 at the foul line. He also came up with three rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Justin Soranno added 13 going 4-5 overall, 2-2 from three with five rebounds and two blocks.

Donavin Crawford chipped in 11 points.
•
Amari Jones neared a double-double with 10 points and eight boards.Â

Miles White and
Justin Harper each came off the bench to score nine.
For the Griffins
• Neal Hill was 4-8 for nine points with six rebounds.
• Alejandro Cyback scored eight with a game-high 12 rebounds.
• IV Pettit was 7-10 at the line and scored nine points.

• This is Coach Fedor's first home and CACC victory.
• It's the Lions first CACC win since Feb. 25, 2023, also against Chestnut Hill.
• The Lions 81 points are a new season-best.
• Nine different Lions scored a point in the game and CHC had 13 different players score.
• All-time, GCU is now 6-15 against Chestnut Hill.Â
