How it Happened

• The scoring started early as just 1:35 into the game the Lions got on the board. GCU had a free kick attempt in the offensive zone and Seanna Boan stepped into one just to the right of the 18 yard box. She sailed it high over the keeper and under the bar for her first goal of the season.
• Before the match was even five minutes long, Boan made it 2-0. Juliana Rettino sent a cross to the top of the box where it was settled by Breana Parkinson. Parkinson touched it off to Boan who one-timed it into the net.
• Midway through the frame, the Lions made it a 3-0 game. In transition, Rettino found a streaking Chelsea Lavezzo who outran the defense and was set up with a breakaway opportunity. Lavezzo deftly touched it past the goalie who came out high for her first goal of the season.
• At the half, the Lions were in full control. They allowed only one shot which was off target.
• Many starters didn't play long into the second half as the Lions began to empty their bench.
• The Dolphins held the Lions off the board for much of the second half, but couldn't keep them down long.
• Georgian Court scored again in transition in the 79th minute to put the game on ice. After a Dolphins free kick resulted in a turnover, Breana Parkinson fed Chiamaka Wokocha who got behind the defense and chipped a ball off the goalkeeper and into the net for a 4-0 Lions win.
