Lavezzo's Hat Trick Gives Coach Moore 200th Win

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept. 21, 2024) - Georgian Court Women's Soccer had an eventful Saturday afternoon. The Lions won their first CACC game of the 2024 season, scoring a season-best five goals in a 5-2 victory over Felician. Three of those five were scored by freshman Chelsea Lavezzo for a hat trick. The win was also number 200 in the career of head coach Jim Moore.

How it Happened
• Georgian Court had a big edge in possession, 55% to 45%.
• Those numbers showed up in the stats as the Lions doubled up the Golden Falcons in shots, 20-10.
• Georgian Court was also incredibly accurate putting 17 of those 20 shots on goal. Felician put just four of their 10 on target.
• Most of the rest of the stats were fairly even. Each team earned four corner kicks. Felician was called for nine fouls and GCU seven. The Golden Falcons also were booked the only yellow card, called on the bench.
• Georgian Court started the scoring very early. Just 97 seconds into the game, Sophia Ridolfo's through pass hit Lavezzo in stride and she beat the keeper for her and the Lions' first goal.
• The game remained that way for much of the rest of the first half. That was until Lavezzo took over. She scored on a simlar goal as her first. This time it was Breana Parkinson sending the through pass for the assist.
• That goal came in the 28th minute. Just four minutes later, the Parkinson to Lavezzo combination struck again. That put the Lions up 3-0.
• Just 38 seconds later, Ava Reardon's shot was saved and the rebound caromed to Chiamaka Wokocha who finshed and put the Lions up 4-0 the end the half.
• Georgian Court had a couple of opportunities to add to their lead early in the second half, including one by Lavezzo who narrowly missed out on her fourth of the game.
Juliana Rettino had a golden opportunity with a penalty kick, but she kissed it off the post and it stayed out.
• With 15 minutes left to play, Felician finally got on the board. Jalyn Tse carried down the right side, shot and scored.
• Ten minutes later, the Lions got the goal back. Some excellent passing saw Tyler Keenan in the box. Her high shot went off the crossbar and came down across the line for a goal.
• The Golden Falcons added a penalty kick goal from Valeria Ordonez Perez for the 5-2 final.
