PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2024) - For the second consecutive game, Georgian Court Men's Soccer needed just one goal to pick up a win. The Lions scored early in the second half and made it stand up despite being outshot 21-11 for a 1-0 win. The win is the Lions second in a row, improving them to 2-4-1 and 1-1in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court was outshot 21-11, but many of those Tiger shots were off target. The Lions doubled up the Tigers in shots on goal, 6-3.
• Holy Family had more corner kick opportunities, 6-4.
• Yellow cards were aplenty with the Lions called for three and Tigers five. GCU was also whistled for 12 fouls and HFU eight.
• Georgian Court, which has been so good of late at scoring early, were looking for another quick tally.
• The Lions ripped off consecutive shots and got three corner kicks, but Tiger goalkeeper Luke Shank made four saves and two more were sent off target.
• Twice it looked like the Lions might have scoring opportunities midway through the frame, but the offsides flag went up to stop the play.
• Each goalkeeper made a couple of saves later in the half and through 45, the game was just as it started, 0-0.
• While the Lions didn't score early in the first half, they made up for it in the second.
Mikey Mallon carried the ball up the field, found
David Tuschmann to his right who took a touch and beat the goalkeeper short side for a lead less than three minutes in.

Ayendi Batista was tested shortly after, but made two saves to keep the Lions in front.
• Georgian Court's defense took over from there and while Holy Family accumulated shots, they were off the mark.
• In the final four minutes, the Tigers lost their composure collecting three yellow cards, but that didn't effect the Lions who walked out with a 1-0 win.
