ORANGEBURG, NY (Sept. 28, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer continues to rack up wins on the road. Saturday afternoon, the Lions held on for a 3-2 win at Dominican, their third straight.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court's offense was in charge most of the afternoon. The Lions took 21 shots, 10 on goal. Dominican totaled nine shots, putting three on target.
• The Lions also took advantage of eight corner kicks. The Chargers earned just two.
• The yellow cards were a plenty. Dominican was called for five and GCU three. Dominican was also whistled for 16 fouls, the Lions 13.
• Georgian Court has been great lately at scoring early and Saturday was no different.

Svante Haakansson who chipped it into the goal for a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
• It took roughly 10 minutes for the Chargers to tie things up. A Lion shot and save led to Dominican breaking out and Armando Morales finished for the Chargers.
• Dominican took their first lead seven minutes later. Morales passed to Oscar Chazalet who scored for a 2-1 Charger lead.
• The lead lasted until the half, but just 20 seconds into the second half, Gijs van Eif tied things at two.
Jack Pollintine-Smith picked up the assist.
• It looked like that might be the final, but, with less than two minutes to play, Haakansson scored his second of the game to put the Lions back up, 3-2.
• Dominican had a golden opportunity in the final seconds, but time ran out and the Lions escaped with a 3-2 win.

News and Notes
• Van Eif's goal is the 10th of his career. He's the 10th Lion to score 10 or more goals and did so in 21 games, tied for the second-fastest in program history.

Mikey Mallon took his 20th career shot.
• Georgian Court is now 7-3-2 all-time against Dominican and 7-1-2 since 2015.
• This is the Lions first three-game winning streak since 2021.
