Men's Soccer Wins Third Straight at Dominican

ORANGEBURG, NY (Sept. 28, 2024) - Georgian Court Men's Soccer continues to rack up wins on the road. Saturday afternoon, the Lions held on for a 3-2 win at Dominican, their third straight.

How it Happened
• Georgian Court's offense was in charge most of the afternoon. The Lions took 21 shots, 10 on goal. Dominican totaled nine shots, putting three on target.
• The Lions also took advantage of eight corner kicks. The Chargers earned just two.
• The yellow cards were a plenty. Dominican was called for five and GCU three. Dominican was also whistled for 16 fouls, the Lions 13.
• Georgian Court has been great lately at scoring early and Saturday was no different. Mikey Mallon's free kick into the box found Svante Haakansson who chipped it into the goal for a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
• It took roughly 10 minutes for the Chargers to tie things up. A Lion shot and save led to Dominican breaking out and Armando Morales finished for the Chargers.
• Dominican took their first lead seven minutes later. Morales passed to Oscar Chazalet who scored for a 2-1 Charger lead.
• The lead lasted until the half, but just 20 seconds into the second half, Gijs van Eif tied things at two. Jack Pollintine-Smith picked up the assist.
• It looked like that might be the final, but, with less than two minutes to play, Haakansson scored his second of the game to put the Lions back up, 3-2.
• Dominican had a golden opportunity in the final seconds, but time ran out and the Lions escaped with a 3-2 win.

For the Lions
• Svante Haakansson scored twice  on four shots.
