Previously vs. Dominican
• This is a rivalry Georgian Court has typically done very well in, with a 6-3-2 record all-time.
• Since 2015, GCU is 6-1-2 against the Chargers.
• Last year, the Lions got goals from Gijs van Eif and
Cole Sullivan in a 2-1 win.
• Dominican scored with just six minutes left to get on the board, and got one final shot off in the closing seconds, but the Lions held on.
Last Time Out
• Georgian Court made some history earlier in the week. For the first time ever, the Lions won back-to-back 1-0 games.
• The most recent of the two came at Holy Family.
David Tuschmann scored with an assist to
Mikey Mallon less than three minutes into the second half.
•
Ayendi Batista made three saves and made the lone goal stand up for his second straight shutout victory.
Individual Milestones
• Gijs van Eif is one goal away from 10. He'd be the 10th Lion to score 10 career goals.
•
Mikey Mallon is three shots shy of putting 20 shots on goal.
•
Sotirios Gkosdis is six saves away from moving up to fourth all-time at Georgian Court and nine away from third.
CACC Leaders (Based on NCAA Statistics)
• Gijs van Eif is in the top-5 in the CACC in both goals and points.
• At 1.00,
Ayendi Batista is third in the CACC in goals against average.
•
Mikey Mallon is up to fourth in the league with 0.5 assists per game.
• GCU is committing the fewest fouls per game at 10.71.
• Georgian Court's offense is doing a good job getting shots on goal with their six per game sitting fifth in the league.
Who's Hot?
• Perhaps the hottest goaltender in the league is
Ayendi Batista who is coming off of back-to-back shutout victories.
• He of course is helped out by a defense that's playing extremely well getting contributions from
Sebastian Derflinger,
Oscar Jannesson,
Robbie Tapp,
Ryan Lee and
Vitor Antelo.
•
David Tuschmann broke through with a game-winning goal at Holy Family.
• Gijs van Eif has goals in three of his last four games played.
•
Mikey Mallon has an assist in consecutive games.
Road Warriors
• Georgian Court is right in the middle of a season-long five-game road trip.
• So far they're 2-1 on the trip.
• If the Lions make it three straight road wins, it'll be their longest since winning five straight on the road in 2021.
About Dominican
• The Chargers earned their first win of the season Wednesday defeating Staten Island 2-1.
• Dominican scored twice in the final 13 minutes to come from behind on the Dolphins.
• Scoring has been a challenge for Dominican as they've scored just six goals in six games and never more than two in any game.
• In fact, the Chargers have either scored exactly two goals or been shutout in all six games.
• The Charger defense is also allowing a lot of shots to get through. Goalkeeper Joshua Kaandorp is seventh in the country in total saves with 32, and he's only played in five of six games. As a team, Dominican's 6.67 saves per game also rank seventh in Division II.
• Henrique Zachello is the only Charger with multiple goals on the season. He has three.
• Most of Dominican's goals have come unassisted as they have just two assists on their six goals.
