FLUSHING, NY (Sept. 27, 2024) - Georgian Court Volleyball went on the road looking for their third straight road win. Queens College had other plans though, sweeping hte Lions in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-19). GCU falls to 4-5 on the season while remaining 2-0 in the CACC.
How it Happened
• Georgian Court struggled offensively hitting just .032 with 24 kills and 21 attack errors. The Knights hit .191 as a team.
• On the serve, the Lions hit seven aces but also 11 errors. Queens totaled 11 aces and 10 errors.
• The Knights put back seven blocks to the Lions four.
• The Queens defense also totaled 46 digs to GCU's 41.
Set 1
• Queens got off to a fast start scoring six of the first seven points.
• Georgian Court mounted a comeback and an
Amiyah Woods kill brought the Lions within one, 10-9.
• From there, the Knights went on a 10-1 run and pushed the score to 20-10.
• Queens was on cruise control from there and took set one, 25-14.
Set 2
• The beginning of set two saw the Lions take the early edge.
Martina Croce landed a kill and GCU had a 6-3 lead.
• That lead was short lived though as Queens stormed back on the strength of a 12-6 run.
• The Knights were able to keep the lead the rest of the way and took a 2-0 lead in the match winning set two 25-22.
Set 3
• Queens carried their momentum right into set number three. They started the frame on a 5-0 run.
• The Lions fought valiantly to get back into the set and a
Giorgia Cappelletti kill got the Lions within two, 14-12.
• The Knights though maintained their lead and never gave it up, going on to win the set and the match,
Lion Stat Leaders
• Georgia Cappelletti totaled 9.5 points with five kills and four service aces.

Nylene Mateo had six kills and a team-best 14 digs.
•
Martina Croce also landed six kills.
•
Dayna Diaz passed out a team-best 11 assists with 10 digs for a double-double.
•
Chelsea Ross had four kills and four blocks.
For the Knights
• Kendall Conrad finished with a match-high 11 kills. She hit .476 with five blocks as well.
• Lindsay Osterhoudt hit .556 with seven kills and three digs.
• Madi Hathaway passed out 12 assists with three digs and seven digs.
• Sarah Munn scooped a team-best 13 digs.
• Despina Boudouris passed out a match-high 13 assists.
