LAKEWOOD, NJ (Jan. 18, 2025) - Georgian Court struggled mightily offensively in the first half of Saturday afternoon's game with Post. Things picked up for GCU in the second half, but it wasn't enough in a 65-56 defeat to the Eagles.
How it Happened
• The Lions shot just 33.3% overall for the game and were at 20% in the first half. They made 8-31 from three and 12-15 at the foul line.
• Post connected at 38.7%, going 4-22 from deep and 13-18 on free throws.
• The Eagles pressured the Lions into 17 turnovers and used that to score 20 points. GCU scored seven points from 12 Post giveaways.
• Post enjoyed a 44-35 edge in rebounding, including 15-8 on the offensive glass.Â
1st Half
• It was a slow start for both teams in the first half. Post hit a three in the first minute, and that was the only points the first 3:19 of the half.
• Georgian Court got on the board with a
Miles White pull-up jumper.
• Trailing 5-2, GCU went on an 8-0 run to take a 10-5 lead midway through the half.
• Post was held scoreless by the Lions defense for nearly eight minutes.
• But Post's defense was also sharp. They held Georgian Court to just one point over a seven-minute span as they got back into it.Â
• Post finished the half on a 16-8 run and shot 66% down the stretch to take a 21-18 lead into the half.
2nd Half
• Back-to-back three-pointers from
Anthony Gooden and
Miles White brought GCU to within one, 25-24, early on in the second half.

Cam Edmonds then gave the Lions their first lead since the first half, 30-29, burying a three of his own at the 15:40 mark.
• The lead didn't last long with Post reclaiming it less than a minute later.Â
• The teams went back-and-forth for a bit and after a
Donavin Crawford layup it was still just a two-point game, 43-41, with 8:28 left to play.
• Post hit a three on the next possession and that kick started a 13-2 Eagle run that saw them push the lead out to 13, 56-43 with five minutes left.
• Georgian Court fought back, getting as close as five, 58-53, with 1:48 left following a White layup.
• The Lions started sending Post to the free throw line and the Eagles went 7-8 in the final 1:40 to ice the game and hold on, 65-56.

Miles White scored 16 to lead the Lions with four rebounds and three steals.

Donavin Crawford added 15 and four boards.

For the Eagles
• Deng Deang scored a game-high 17 on 7-13 shooting with eight rebounds.
• Taquan Williams chipped in 12 hitting 6-6 at the foul line.
• Tyler Small filled the box score with nine points, six rebounds, and four assists.Â
