WILMINGTON, DE (Jan. 22, 2025) -
Cam Edmonds did his best to will Georgian Court to a CACC South Division win Wednesday night, setting numerous single-game Georgian Court and CACC records in the process, but in the end the Lions fell just short, 90-84 to Goldey-Beacom.
Edmonds by the Numbers
• Edmonds shattered the Georgian Court school record scoring 48 points on 11-22 shooting and hitting 22-28 at the free throw line.
• His 48-point outburst is the fourth-highest in CACC history.
• He also broke the Georgian Court and CACC records for single game free throws made and attempted.
• In the NCAA Division II this season, Edmonds' 48 is the second-highest individual scoring output.
• His 22 made free throws match the most in a Division II game this season and his 28 attempts are a new nation-wide high-water-mark.
• Not only did Edmonds set the new Georgian Court scoring record, he became the first Lion to ever reach 40 points in a single game.
• He's also the first Lion to reach 30 points at least four times in a single season.
How it Happened

• Goldey-Beacom shot well hitting 51% from the floor and 35% from three.
• The Lions shot 40.7% overall and were near 40% from long range, hitting 11-28.
• Edmonds wasn't the only one knocking down free throws. Both teams finished 25-32 from the line.
• Inside the paint is where Goldey-Beacom made their money. They doubled-up the Lions in lane, outscoring them 44-22.
• GBC also won the rebounding edge, 38-30, and 15-13 on the offensive end.
• The Lions forced the Lightning into 20 turnovers while losing the ball just 16 times themselves. But the Lightning made the most of their opportunities scoring 20 second-chance points to the Lions 18.
1st Half
• Each team turned the ball over on their first possession, but then the threes started falling.
Donavin Crawford and
Justin Soranno each made one and so did GBC all in less than 60 seconds.
• The two teams were trading blows for a bit. Crawford hit another triple to get GCU back within one, 16-15, with 13:45 still to go in the half.
• Goldey-Beacom went on a run though scoring eight straight as the lead ballooned to nine as the Lions went more than four minutes without scoring.
• The Lightning kept the lead around 10 and twice took an 11-point lead, their largest of the game.
• Trailing 37-26, Georgian Court finished the half on an 11-4 run over the final 2:44 to bring the halftime lead down to four, 41-37. Edmonds scored all 11 during the run going 4-5 overall and 2-3 from behind the arc.
2nd Half
• At the start of the second, the teams were going back-and-forth.
• Down eight, GCU made it a one-possession game with a layup from
Miles White and a
Taheen Braswell-Brown triple, cutting the Lightning lead to three, 60-57 midway through the half.
•
Anthony Gooden brought it down to two at the line and Edmonds gave the Lions their first lead since early in the first half, 61-60 with a three-pointer with 9:39 to play.
• The lead changed hands a number of times, but after a three-ball from Gooden with 4:07 to play, it was tied at 71.
• The Lions had a chance to reclaim the lead, but couldn't cash in on a Lightning turnover. GBC scored four in a 23 second span to reclaim the lead, 75-71 with 2:23 remaining in the game.
• Edmonds brought it back down to two at the line, but Anthony Akande buried a corner three with a minute to play and a GCU turnover led to a fastbreak Lightning basket to ice the game.
• Edmonds did his best to keep the Lions in it, scoring 11 in the final minute, but the Lightning were a perfect 10-10 at the foul line and held on 90-84.
