Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

First Half Struggles Doom Lions in Loss at Felician

RUTHERFORD, NJ (Jan. 4, 2025) - Georgian Court Men's Basketball appeared to have a bit of a holiday hangover as they stepped back onto the court for their first game post break. It took the Lions until the second half to get going, but by then the damage had been done and GCU couldn't overcome a 21-point first half deficit in their 76-63 loss at Felician.

How it Happened
• Felician came out firing and shot 46% for the game, 56% from three and 70% at the foul line.
• GCU's final numbers are respectable, 38.5% from the floor and 34.6% from three, but they shot just 27% in the first half making 4-13 from three.
• The Golden Falcons enjoyed a 42-31 edge on the glass. The Lions though grabbed nine offensive rebounds and turned those in 13 second-chance points.
• Felician lost the ball 19 times and GCU 16. The Golden Falcons scored 13 points off those turnovers though and had 18 fast-break points.
1st Half
• Felician went 3-4 to start the game and quickly got out in front, 6-0.
• It looked like the Lions had recovered as three-pointers from Justin Harper and Donavin Crawford helped the Lions to a 9-2 run and their only lead of the game, 9-8.
• The Lions offense stalled thought and Felician went on a 13-0 run and a dunk from Jhonny Tovar gave the Golden Falcons a commanding 21-9 lead midway through the half.
• Georgian Court just couldn't get going on offense in that first 20 minutes as Felician continued to extend their lead and were up 42-21 at the break.
2nd Half
• Felician kept the Lions scoreless for nearly the first five minutes of the second half. They pushed their lead out to a game-high 28 points, 49-21.
• Miles White finally got GCU on the board with a layup and a three-pointer. He scored the first 10 points for Georgian Court in the second half.
• It took until the 9:56 mark for someone other than White to score for the Lions when Thomas Menegus took a no-look pass from Jacob Santiago in for a score.
• Halfway through the half, Georgian Court was still down 28, and even though the outcome was never in question, the Lions did show some fight.
• Georgian Court finished the game on a 32-17 run over the final 9:56. They shot 13-19 overall and 3-5 from three while forcing five Felician turnovers.
• The surge was a little too late though as time ran out on GCU.
