With Seconds to Spare, Lavezzo Delivers the Equalizer

WILMINGTON,DE (Oct.14th,2025) - In the final moments of regulation, Chelsea Lavezzo netted her first goal of the season to earn a draw in Wilmington.

How it Happened
• 24 minutes into the game Claudia Gilum opened up scoring for Wilmington. 
• Wilmington had their second goal of the game from Sierra Bartley right before half. 
• Wilmington went into the half with a 2-0 lead against the Lions. 
• Georgian Court came out hot just thirty-five seconds into the half Julia Eichenbaum had a big shot to give the Lions a much needed goal. 
• Three minutes later Gabby Kelsey tied the game. 
Evelyn Payne 80 minutes into the game put the Wildcats up 3-2.
Chelsea Lavezzo tied the game with just four seconds left.

 First Half 
Anneli Donath provided the assist on the game's opening goal, scored by Claudia Gilum.
•  Sierra Bartley unleashed a powerful shot from just outside the 18-yard box to give them a 2-0 lead before going into half. 
• Wilmington's two-goal lead didn't stop GCU from dominating the shot count, 7-6.

Second Half 
• Barely a minute into the second half, Julia Eichenbaum struck with a fierce left-footed shot right inside the 18-yard box sending it over the goalkeepers head. 
Lillian Piper's cross sailed into the box, where freshman Gabby Kelsey showed great persistence, battling for possession before tapping it in to tie the game. 
• It took until the 80th minute for the breakthrough, as Evelyn Payne's goal gave Wilmington a crucial lead with ten minutes to go.
• The Lions didn't give up, and their persistence paid off with just four seconds remaining. Izzy Hernandez sent a ball into the box, which Gabby Kelsey headed forward. Lavezzo then flicked it in to tie the game. 

Lion Stat Leaders 
• This match saw first goals of the season for both Julia Eichenbaum and Chelsea Lavezzo
 Gabby Kelsey had one goal and one assist in just 45 minutes of play. 
 Lillian Piper and Izzy Hernandez each had one assist. 
. Freshman Christina Ellis had four saves in net. 

  For Wilmington
• Claudia Gilum, Evelyn Payne, and Sierra Bartley each provided one goal for the Wildcat's
Arianna Myers had six saves in net. 

News and Notes
• The clock showed a historic moment, as the Lions notched their latest regulation goal in over ten years.
Christina Ellis had her first career start.
• Possession for the game was evenly split, with each team controlling 50%.
